When and how do I receive my diploma?

  • Diplomas are mailed six to eight weeks after degree processing. Expected timeframes for each semester are:
    • Fall degrees - Early February
    • Winter degrees - End of February
    • Spring degrees - End of June
    • Summer degrees - End of September
  • If you need to change your diploma address, please contact the Degree Coordinator at degree@binghamton.edu
  • If an MG (Missing Grade) or an I (Incomplete) is noted on your transcript, your degree will not be conferred until you are given a final grade. Contact the instructor of the course with questions.
  • You must resolve all financial holds before you can receive your diploma. Check your student account balance via , and contact Student Accounts to clear any holds.

What鈥檚 on my diploma?

  • Your name will appear as you entered it on your Application for Degree. Your name cannot be changed after the diploma has been printed. To make any changes to your diploma after you鈥檝e submitted the Application for Degree, you must contact the Degree Coordinator.
  • The name on your official student record (including diplomas and transcripts) cannot be changed after your degree has been conferred.
  • If you earned Latin Honors (Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Cum Laude), the designation will be included on your diploma.
  • Undergraduate students in the College of Community and Public Affairs and the Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science will have their majors printed on their diplomas.
  • Harpur students completing more than one major will only receive one (1) diploma. All majors and minors will appear on the official transcript.
  • The diploma measures 11 inches wide by 8.5 inches tall (US letter-size paper, landscape orientation.

Apostille Process

  • Some governments and agencies may require diplomas and/or transcripts to be certified with an apostille for legal use in a foreign country.
  • The Student Records and Registrar Services Office assists students with this process by notarizing these documents.
  • The apostille process can take 3-4 weeks due to the notary requirements, shipping times, and multiple steps involved. Please plan accordingly to avoid delays.
  • To ensure a smooth process, carefully review our Apostille Checklist and provide all required materials.

Replacement Diploma Processing

  • Complete Replacement Diploma Request Form and mail it with $15 fee payable by check or money order to:

    • Allow 3-4 weeks for processing delivery by U.S. Postal Service, no tracking available.  International deliveries may take several additional weeks.
