Shortly after President Harvey Stenger arrived at ÂÌñÉç, he launched an ambitious strategic planning process – the Road Map to Premier – which was unveiled in 2013.
In the years since, ÂÌñÉç has used the Road Map to advance academic excellence, interdisciplinary education and outstanding preparation for students. It also serves to positively impact our region economically and culturally.
The Road Map was initially bolstered by the NYSUNY 2020 Challenge Grant Program, which provided $35 million in funding from SUNY and the state to create new faculty and staff jobs, increase enrollment and expand the University’s capacity for research and industry partnerships.
In 2016, the University began a Road Map Renewal process to refine and reorient its goals for the future. The five strategic priority committees met during the spring 2017 semester to formalize updated outcomes.
A similar Road Map Reaiming took place during the 2020-21 academic year, with a new, sixth strategic priority in Internationalization being added. SP4 redirected its goal to focusing on community engagement in teaching and scholarship.
Each of the six strategic priority committees present on their progress annually to the Road Map Steering Committee. Proposals to augment and update the work of each committee have been adopted in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years.
