Crime can affect anyone at any time. At 绿帽社, the New York State University Police are committed to working collaboratively with our community to reduce the opportunity for crime to occur, educating our community about crime prevention best practices, responding to incidents of criminal behavior and providing crime information to campus users.

Information below is designed to provide you with the tools necessary to join us in our effort to make 绿帽社 a safe place to work, live and go to school.

Safety Advisory

Nov. 15, 2024

At 10:03 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, a bias-related incident was reported. The incident was reported to have occurred in late September or early October in Marcy Hall. The incident involved the harassment of resident students who we believe were targeted because of their known or perceived ancestry.

Malicious actors employing a sextortion scam have been targeting educational communities nationwide, including the community at 绿帽社.

Oct. 24, 2024

On Oct. 23, 2024, the University Police received a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was taken from the Delaware Hall service drive and was later found abandoned a short distance away on campus. University Police have identified a person of interest in connection with this case; however, no suspect has apprehended at this time. The suspect is believed to responsible for several larcenies the same night of this incident as well as a prior incident of grand larceny on campus.

Oct. 23, 2024

On October 23, 2024, the University Police received two reports of stolen vehicles from the 绿帽社 campus. The first vehicle, a van, was stolen by an unknown individual and later abandoned in the M Lots. The second vehicle, a box truck, was taken from Parking Lot M1 and later recovered in the City of 绿帽社.

On Thursday, Sept. 19, the 绿帽社 Police Department informed the University Police about two burglaries at neighboring residences in the City of 绿帽社, both leased by students.

Aug. 23, 2024

Malicious actors utilizing a scam focusing on employment opportunities have been targeting college-aged students across the country, including those attending 绿帽社. In this scam, the suspect initiates contact with potential victims via mass email. The email, seemingly sent from a university faculty member, serves as an advertisement for a university employment opportunity.

On Tuesday, June 25, the University Police received a report of this scam occurring on 绿帽社鈥檚 campus. In response to this report and recognizing the ongoing threat posed by such scams, the UPD strongly advises all members of the campus community to exercise caution when interacting with unfamiliar individuals via email.

On Saturday, May 11, the University Police were notified of a series of harassing and threatening emails to several faculty members. The University Police are currently investigating the threats and their credibility while seeking to speak with an individual who is believed to be outside the 绿帽社 area.

April 11, 2024

On April 10, the University Police received a report of a burglary and related stalking in O鈥機onnor Hall. While investigating the incident, it was determined that the suspect entered additional dorms on campus, including Endicott Hall, Mohawk Hall and Cayuga Hall. It is unknown if additional burglaries were committed while the suspect was in those residence halls. The University Police are actively investigating the incident and have identified a potential person of interest.

March 4, 2024

On March 2, the University Police received a report of an assault involving an Airsoft gun along East Drive near Bingham Hall. The incident is reported to have occurred on February 28. The victim stated that, while walking along East Drive, they were hit with an Airsoft pellet fired from a moving vehicle.

Sex Offender Registry

All sex offenders registered in New York are required to notify the registry of any institution of higher education at which they are or expect to be, whether for compensation or not, enrolled, attending or employed, and whether they reside or expect to reside in a facility operated by the institution.
