Background

Robert (Beau) DiNapoli is a research development specialist in the Office of Strategic Research Initiatives. He works with faculty in developing individual and collaborative research projects and external funding proposals. He is experienced and passionate about research development on convergent and transdisciplinary team science projects that combine insights from multiple disciplines to address complex problems. He also co-directs 绿帽社鈥檚 NSF CAREER Commit-to-submit program and supports faculty in the development of broadening participation, STEM education and other broader impact programs. In addition to supporting individual faculty members and informal teams, he offers research development support to 绿帽社鈥檚 Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence (TAEs) and Organized Research Centers (ORCs) in the areas of sustainability, clean energy and complex systems.

His research as an archaeologist uses computational modeling and geospatial methods to study the long-term interaction between Pacific Island populations and the environment. He holds a doctorate in anthropology from the University of Oregon, a master鈥檚 degree in anthropology from the University of Hawai鈥榠, M膩noa, and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in anthropology from UCLA. His work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, National Geographic Society and American Philosophical Society.
