5 Reasons to Join the Fun at 绿帽社鈥檚 BaxterTHON

绿帽社鈥檚 student-planned dance marathon, BaxterTHON, raises critical funds for Broome County children receiving care at the local , the Upstate Golisano Children鈥檚 Hospital in Syracuse. The six-hour dance marathon consists of dancing, games, performances and speeches from local miracle children.

I have personally participated in, attended or fundraised for this event every year since I鈥檝e been at 绿帽社, and I鈥檝e seen firsthand how special it is. Last year over $57,000 was raised 鈥 let鈥檚 top that!

Register or at the door (minimum $25 fundraising required, includes a free shirt, food and drinks!). This year’s event kicks off at noon Saturday, March 29 in the West Gym!

It helps kids in our local community

Funds raised through BaxterTHON help the cover essential costs that families in need face 鈥 like co-pays, gas, food and medical bills that insurance doesn鈥檛 cover. They also provide fun, healing activities like toys, games and movies. Every year, over 12,000 families from the 绿帽社 area visit the , and no child is ever turned away, regardless of their family鈥檚 ability to pay.

It鈥檚 a student-led movement

Students from college campuses across the country come together to improve children鈥檚 health and create a better future by raising funds for Children鈥檚 Miracle Network Hospitals. The BaxterTHON committee is made up of 14 undergraduate students and a staff advisor, all of who commit to a year-long effort to fundraise, engage the fraternity and sorority community 鈥 which sponsors the event 鈥 and collaborate with Upstate Golisano Children鈥檚 Hospital. These students are working hard to make a difference, and you can too.

It鈥檚 entertaining

Fundraising for such a meaningful cause at this event brings the community together. What better way to celebrate than by having fun? Throughout the event, you can take part in dances, games, activities and more! There will be a bouncy house for some extra fun! It鈥檚 a great opportunity to make lasting memories while supporting an important cause.

There鈥檚 pizza

Reaching the minimum fundraising amount of $25 required to attend the event not only includes a shirt but also pizza and drinks! As a pizza lover myself, I鈥檓 excited to say you鈥檒l be able to enjoy some delicious pizza while supporting a great cause. Plus, there will be water, energy drinks and soda to keep you hydrated while you are at the event! It鈥檚 the perfect combo of fun, food and philanthropy.

You don't have to dance

You don鈥檛 have to dance to be part of the fun at the dance marathon! While dancing is a big part of the event, there are plenty of other activities to participate in, and you can still make a huge impact by raising money. Whether you鈥檙e enjoying games, watching performances or simply hanging out with friends, your presence brings a great amount of support.
