Background
Machella Raymond MSW '20 (she/her/hers) is a Broome County native. During her MSW field experience she interned at ACCORD (a dispute resolution center) and Lourdes Center for Mental Health. After graduating with her MSW, she worked for two years at Rise, a local domestic violence agency. These experiences further instilled in her a passion for decreasing stigma around mental health and domestic violence.
She uses a trauma-informed therapy approach with a focus on client empowerment. Her areas of interest include cognitive behavioral therapy as well as strengths-based and solution-focused therapy. She has an interest in many topics including anxiety, problems in interpersonal relationships, self-compassion and self-talk.
She feels that self-care is a core part of the work she does. She enjoys spending time with family, friends and her two cats. She likes to read and listen to podcasts related to mental health. Additionally, she likes to attend local community events and travel.
