Background

Hyejung Kim joined the Department of Teaching, Learning and Educational Leadership as an assistant professor of special education in 2020. She received her PhD degree in special education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to her doctoral study, she worked as an elementary school teacher in South Korea for five years. Her current research interests include intersections of dis/ability, race/ethnicity, and language; students on the autism spectrum; and transition education for students with special education needs. Currently, she focuses on emerging bi-/multi-lingual adolescents with dis/ability and racial disparities in college enrollment for students with autism.
