Background
Aleksandar Shopov received his PhD from Harvard University in history and Middle Eastern studies. His research and publications focus on early modern Ottoman environmental history and the histories of science and technology.
He has held fellowships at Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin, the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society in Munich, Dumbarton Oaks Library in Washington, D.C., the Research Center for Anatolian Civilization in Istanbul and the Center for Mamluk Studies in Bonn.
