Vestal Science Olympiad (Student Organization)

Calling all STEM enthusiasts! Want to help high-school students prepare for Science Olympiad competitions?
Science Olympiad is a nationwide competition between schools in which students perform their knowledge, creativity, and skill. Members engage in events spanning various fields such as anatomy, entomology, fossils, material science, ecology, and microbe biology, and building events such as helicopter, air trajectory, and tower. Event specializations range from test booklets to hands-on labs to constructing elaborate builds or devices. By combining events from all disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved. Students, teachers, and parents bond together and work toward a shared goal of STEM curiosity and passions.
At Vestal Central School District, the Vestal High School hosts the Vestal Science Olympiad, which competes at various invitationals (online and in-person). Vestal is always looking for faculty and staff, as well as any students (grads, undergrads, volunteers, etc.) or alumni who may have had Science Olympiad experience in their past, and anyone else who is willing to take the time to share their knowledge, to help students prepare. There are many ways to assist, from attending one of our weekly Thursday meetings (in-person or virtual) or creating lesson plans to guide students on studying for an event, to help answering questions. If interested, please contact Caitlin Pointer.
